I can't believe a month has passed since I last added something to the page !!!! Yikes, where does time go?
recent pages....
Marking the last of the yard work to get finished, using a Dawn Ebbett's photo...
My favorite type of doodles creating triangle tree landscapes in three pieces..

This is a postcard with a recent Needle Punch purchase adding color and texture. The pocket on the next page can be seen through the cut out.

This is the pocket with 3 places for tags and the tags ware in position.

This was inspired by the Zentangles 12 days of Tangles project I follow on you tube.

NOVEMBER
The month is flying by. I have been working, just catching up with posts.
This page has multiple layers, starting with a pumpkin shape.

I wove this page using one of Dawn's photos and an index card with black and white doodles.

I worked on this page  on a scrap the day Roger was released from hospital, starting with the rolls of tape . It didn't quite cover the 5 "x 5" water color paper. The black is not part of it, just what I use when scanning for contrast.

I folded a piece of high glossy paper from a National Wildlife catalogue for this pocket. There are 3 tags. The one with the string is a tag with my list of summer projects.

Art Journal 2019....
 lots of pages to add

Pencil/ black ink doodles/Tangles ...

Collage with scraps.. and doodles around the border.
The vase/ fish shape kept my attention.

These pages are  the basis for my 2020 journal - using  6"x 6"black paper for all pages, probably Bristol, framing whatever work goes on top.  Sometimes I'll work with the black background.
Five punched hole and binder rings to hold them together.

October is flying by - the winds of the Nor'easter on Oct. 7 helped...
ART JOURNAL 2019
page 73
I covered the oak leaf with some tangling designs, changing color.
Page 75 has a smaller page (photo on right ) over it where I used some of the Art Guide 2019 cover photo and a picture of folk art by Achilles Gilbert ; it flips up for more tangles. The green and blue is paper from the Dyan Reavely collection. I wrote ablation and coughing  over it for texture. The stamp in purple on white is one of my rubber eraser collection with white from a Bic white out pen.

I went to a local quilt show with a longtime friend, so used my sewing machine for  texture on page 77 and made a mini book of kraft paper with a machine stitched binding. It  also has tangles on the cover and some of the pages.

So many missed days...
now October and 33 degrees two mornings ago, but 58 this morning...ahhhh, New England

some missed days:
September 20 is a pocket from a Scholastic magazine with three tags,

September 24 some scraps, and odds and ends of papers and doodling.

Page 62 is an oak leaf free drawn, and colored with pencils that have several colors in one. It has a mini pocket which opens out, when folded in it covers part of page 61.

Page 65 has a fold out also and a maple leaf stamped then doodled around in an echo style. The odd shaped space toward the middle is cut on three edges as a tab to hold the added section in place.

page 67 is totally different, and is based on the exhibit at the Lamont Gallery in Exeter, "American Mortality" which speaks to patriotism, and war.

September's COOL mornings.... cool in the temperature sense...
this morning it was only 36 degrees. I am glad all my begonias are safe in the front porch !!!
The sun feels therapeutic in the afternoons.
Pages 52, and 53 document this in Art Journal 2019, vol. II

The spiral has been a favorite image, and use it to represent the cyclical nature of life - mine and in the larger sense, as well as the sun's power.
I added the scrap from page 53's spiral to page 52... and afterthought. Here's page 52 without it....

The paper with the "sun"on it is from the packet Dina Wakley's  "Collage Collective". I added color with Inktense ink sticks and Mirabu Art Crayons. Another page from "Collage Collective is on page 53's frame. The other side is on page 54.

Saturday, September 7, 2019

I posted page 44 already...here's 41, 42, 43

The blue paper  with circular flowers is a scrapbooking paper I came across in my stash, cut to fit the 3/4 "squares.
attached book

back of book partially visible

The hand shape is cut from a print out of a recent needle punch project I finished.

page  43 is a Dina Wakley paper  (other side is p. 44)
Storm off the NE coast....
beach is calling me, but Chowder Fest in Hampton scares me with all the traffic... here's to a beach walk soon.

The blue printed paper is from Dina Wakleys' collection" . I cut a tag in the  white paper to see more of it,  added some color and a spiral...

Six months ago.... 3/3/19

In March, I'd been for a walk on the beach, and was waiting for a snowstorm to arrive...

page 47, closed, has a scribbly bird, and a stamp... with  text written repeatedly.

When page 47 is opened, it has two more sections - one has a photo of our front steps, the other (actually upside down ) has a beach stone from Hampton that day, and a beach-based doodle.

This is page 48, open with similar 3 sections: the main portion has a bare tree stamp, and part of "Stopping by Woods" by Robert Frost. The index card is backed with a black piece of paper.

This is page 48 closed ...
I started with the 5 x 5"piece, and added an index card and a tag.

All new look....NOT really:

pages 39 & 40
The black pages are 4"X 4" so I made it a bit bigger with a tag of black paper. The collage started with another picture of a giraffe planter from the Portland Craft Fair's ad... The tape with stripes is actually quilting tape !!! and then I added other tapes.
The collaged planter with leaves came together with some scraps...

I did the white tag a la Zentangle project pack 6  directions and added tapes in the plain area.

Next pages will have some serendipitous collages from the scraps accumulating on my work space...

PAGES 35- 38 The next 4 pages developed together. I worked on one then another, then back to the first. The images on pages 36 & 37 came from an ad for Portland's Craft Festival. the flamingo particularly enchanted me... The ceramic skull and the hanging flower pot are equally interesting...  wish I got the artists' names...

TOO MUCH TV !!!!!
Page  35 is a basic scrap collage, with a tangle design, "connectors" ( one of my dependable Tangles) filling in the background.

p 36 is a book stitched on the left side of the green with two more drawings from the same ad as the flamingo. I'm thinking the same artist.
The striped paper  on page 37 is from Dina Wakley's " Collage Collective".  It appears again in pieces on the next page.

And page 38 was the least satisfying although I  now like it -- the focal point never came clearly out at me...  I used a Bic white out for some accents. I was attached to the diamond shape  and I think that was the problem...

"Build a Journal" uses several pockets... and includes tags.
AUGUST ..........
Pages 33-34
it's a 3 phase pocket... with 3 tags,
corners are folded to make flaps, attached to a tag punched to add to journal
The pocket is a page from a recent Scholastic publication...this shows part of one side.
I like the colors so I cut a window in the tag which goes onto the binding.

no wood stacking today - coffee with a long-time friend, and too hot out.

here are the most recent pages...
these shoes intrigued me... for all the show lovers out there... not sure what was so interesting, but... they have glue dots to attach them so sit a bit higher on the page
page 26

The diamond shape was cut out from another page. I added the missing letters freehand. And the shape of it showed on the next page as the beginning.
And here again is "higgins"or 'huggins"a "Zentangle design.
