I've been keeping up with the creating, but behind in the posting of prompts from JOURNAL52
Here they are: windows, in testament to the incredible snow we've accumulated. A photo of a Pierre Bernard art work can be seen.
The green lines are from a print of a stencil that is the protective plastic from a keyboard.

Valentines,

This started as a rubbing of a Valentine from a friend at work in pencil, then one in red. To balance it I did stencil rubbing of LOVE from Robert Indiana, and used white paper to cut the word for the far right.

 aromatherapy,

   wild red strawberries
fragrant, tasty childhood feast
  sweet pink memory

I had had a conversation with a friend recently about how just the smell of strawberries takes me back to the days of picking and eating them in the warmth of the sun.
The Haiku took a few days to get "right".

and artistic restraint...  my interpretation of one color, one shape -
one theme, one medium
Current dog, Deezel, and puppy soon to come home - have to wait four more weeks- in pencil

This is the other page. So to balance the two as an entry, I stayed with the grey tones and used a picture by Dawn of February since we had five snow storms for the month as well as record cold - "UN- restricted Mother Nature....

the week 3 prompt from JOURNAL52 is "Silhouette"so I decided to just use the word, since it's kind of interesting.....
I colored the page with some brown and red Pan Pastels, cut the stencil from a scrap of photo paper, and used black Pan Pastel to stencil with; I cleaned it up a bit with some colored pencil, eraser, and dabbing in pastel a bit where needed. This is the auto color variation, since the original is much paler...
It needs some sort of framing - will probably be my writing.

     hot cappuccino
white, soft unheard snowflakes
     be a winter's day    1/11/15

This spread was from JOURNAL52 prompt for the week ..."just Be"  My walk downtown with Deezel, in the light snow, and to Crackskulls' for a cappuccino inspired the Haiku.

I mispelled cappuccino....
The  transparency on the left is from a printout of the work I did at the Currier last Saturday.
more pages done in art journal 2015

These two are about the numbers for the dates 1/4/15 & 1/5/15

I used the negative tags, scraps from another project, over some drawing and doodling...  I like their gateway/doorway implication.
The text says "Lets us see details."and is from some text from first graders about how art helps us grow. I decided to incorporate some in my own work.

The first entry for ART JOURNAL 2015 is based on the JOURNAL52 theme of pathways. It is a two page spread in a Molskine journal, with a flap up for more space for the spiral. I use spirals frequently, and actually used the backside of the one I had made when I applied two-sided tape to the wrong - the colored - side. So I added the sentiment from my first graders that "Art lets you/ me make mistakes."

2 page spread, flap up

2 pages, flap down
I gave the two pages  a quick spray with Delusions first with yellow, then
with a spiral mask, flipped it for the left side. I made a second set of spirals by doing a rubbing of the mask with colored pencils. When I put the 2-sided tape on the colored side, I had to re-color the spiral after I positioned it in place. The typed text is near the binding on the right hand side.
The stamp on the flap is from my hand cut selection. Some personal observations of PATHWAYS  written in pencil and some with Sharpie  add interest, contrast and texture.

12/31/2014

                              Cold wind blows across
                       fallen, crispy, brown oak leaves.
                             Winter's hard packed earth.
                        The brown blanket crackles.
Where hides the cool, white blanket ?
