the year begins...
On January first this haiku recollects the day spent with longtime friends and just having easy conversations. I used a snowflake stamp to texture the background and added a small cut paper snowflake. A piece of tracing paper less than 2" square gave the perfect look to the page. The border was made from the decorative trim around a commercial stamp after the stamp was removed - perfect scalloped border and gold color.
Just the beginning of two favored sources for collaging- tracing paper (there are so many) and stuff in the mail to reclaim.
I messed up the first writing. So I re-wrote the lines on the same cardstock, cut out the text and glued it on.
Bright new snow glitters.
Longtime friends sharing laughter.
Tears and joys sparkle.
The date is written inconspicuously in the corner - how that changes over the year....
One of my "rules" was to not over think or work any thing. Once the syllables were correct and the art looked finished, I filed it in its sleeve.
'til tomorrow, Merrilyn
